The opening of Western Nevada Regional Youth Center (WNRYC) in Silver Springs, Nevada in August 2000 was a culmination of years of vision and dedicated work of many people. The current process started in January of 1995 with representatives from the First, Third and Ninth judicial districts meeting to discuss regional juvenile justice resource needs in western Nevada. During the next several months, meetings were held and a committee formed to include district judges, county managers and chief juvenile probation officers. Support for this facility comes from all over the state of Nevada including the counties of Carson City, Churchill County, Douglas County, Lyon County and Storey County. WNRYC is a short term, staff secure, high impact, goal focused, multi-disciplinary treatment program. The program's general focus is towards early intervention, assessment, treatment and transition services.
Our MissionThe mission of the WNRYC is to protect the communities it serves by providing a continuum of services, programs and graduated sanctions that rehabilitates and holds juvenile offenders accountable for their actions while strengthening families.
WNRYC is further dedicated to multi-level liaison and referral with other agencies and community organizations at both higher and lower levels of structured involvement in the youth and family’s lives. The Western Nevada Regional Youth Center’s vision is to create an organization which fosters teamwork, inspires creativity, promotes integrity, provides quality services, and invokes respect for its professionalism.
